My name is David Henning. I'm a graduate of Denison University, and I am currently living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I studied music composition under Dr. Ching-Chu Hu, as well as Hyekyung Lee.
As a composer, I have worked with both ensembles and solo performers, including Third Coast Percussion and Ethel. My compositions vary between electronic, acoustic, and electro-acoustic pieces, but they all share heavy dance music influences, whether that be Disco or EDM. My pieces have been featured in many Denison University concerts, as well as the Tutti Festival.
My background in music began in producing electronic music, rather than as a performer. While I don't have an instrument that is really my own, I like to view this as a benefit, as I can practice my versatility when it comes to composing for other instruments, rather than having one specific "go-to" instrument to write for. I've had the most success and the most fun working with instrumentalists to figure out what works!
